Meltzers gate is located in the Briskeby area of Oslo and stretches from Incognitogate to Niels Juels gate. It was named in 1896 in honour of the police chief superintendent and author Harald Meltzer. Number 4 was built around 1900 and consisted of high standard residential apartments until the middle of the 20th century. One of the most famous residents was Anders Nicolai Kiær (1838-1919) who was the first director of the Norwegian national statistics bureau, Statistics Norway.
